Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan held an online meeting with World Customs Organization experts

On April 23, 2020, an online meeting was held between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and experts from the World Customs Organization.

The parties discussed the issue on accession of Turkmenistan to the International Convention on the simplification and harmonization of Customs procedures (as amended), known as the Revised Kyoto Convention (RKC). In particular, the requirements that must be observed in relation to acceding to the said convention were considered.

Regarding the requirements presented by the Convention, it was noted of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan that today, thanks to the care of the President of Turkmenistan, all customs posts have been modernized in accordance with international standards, the norms of the Customs Code of Turkmenistan have been harmonized with the provisions of the RKC, and the requirements for the use of information technology are being implemented.

Remind, that International Convention on the simplification and harmonization of Customs procedures (as amended), known as the Revised Kyoto Convention (RKC) is one of the most significant international legal documents in the field of customs. This Convention is one of the fundamental documents within the framework of the WCO in the field of customs and involves the creation of common principles of customs policy.
