Talks between the Heads of the MFA of Turkmenistan and China

On June 28, 2020, a telephone conversation took place between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China R.Meredov and Wang Yi, informs the web-site of the MFA of Turkmenistan.

During the constructive talks, the heads of external policy agencies of the two countries discussed a wide agenda of bilateral relations. The strengthening of mutual support between Turkmenistan and China in the framework of various regional and international organizations was also among the topics of discussions.     

The pressing regional and international issues, including the consolidation of joint efforts on counteraction against the new type of coronavirus pandemic were also considered. In this context, the diplomats noted the significance and timeliness of the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan on the establishment of the Council of Medical Scientists in regard to arrangement and conduction of effective, timely consolidated actions in urgency situations. The Heads of the MFAs of Turkmenistan and PRC also stated that in view of worldwide situation, the promotion of efficient mechanisms of scientific diplomacy gains current significance.   

The Chinese side also stated the timeliness of the adoption of the National Preparedness and Response Plan of Turkmenistan to Acute Infectious Disease which proves the adherence of Turkmenistan to multifaceted cooperation with the world community in the process of strengthening peace, security and stability on the regional and worldwide scale.  

Stating the importance and consistency of regular meetings in bilateral format, as well as in the framework of international structures, the diplomats expressed the necessity of intensifying the mutually beneficial Turkmen-Chinese partnership on key aspects of bilateral agenda. The parties paid special attention to the issue of resuming and intensification of the meetings between the representatives of the state and private sector in view of the pandemic.
