Development of the chemical industry of Turkmenistan

The chemical industry is one of the basic sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan and was formed based on the needs of intensifying agricultural production through the creation of enterprises for the production of mineral fertilizers.

During the period of prosperity of our State, in accordance with the "Program of socio-economic development of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov for 2019-2025", it is planned to implement a set of measures aimed at the progressive dynamic development of the national economy. Successfully solving the tasks set by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the chemical industries, today in Turkmenistan, large-scale projects are being gradually implemented aimed at developing industrial potential and increasing exports in demand in world markets.

The largest gas chemical complex in the region, located in the city of Karabogaz in the Balkan velayat, was put into operation and is designed for an annual production of 1 million 155 thousand tons of urea. A significant part of the products manufactured at the plant is planned to be supplied to foreign consumers. The fully automated enterprise has no analogues in the region. It is equipped with Danish, Italian, Dutch and American technologies. The accelerated of the plant’s products is facilitated by a special berth, to which urea is supplied by a conveyor, which makes it possible to significantly facilitate and reduce the cost of shipping it by sea.

The initial raw material for the enterprise is natural gas, in terms of reserves of which Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world. This factor makes it promising to build new capacities for the production of nitrogen fertilizers, including urea.

The Garabogaz urea complex increases revenues and export opportunities for the chemical industry of Turkmenistan. The construction of this enterprise is another step towards the transformation of Turkmenistan into a state with a developed industry.
