Meeting of the President of Turkmenistan with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan

Yesterday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, participating as an honorary guest in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, met with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

After exchanging warm greetings, the heads of friendly states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to meet again and in a personal conversation to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of international organizations.

Expressing gratitude to his Tajik counterpart for the invitation to visit Dushanbe in order to participate as an honored guest in the Summit of the Heads of the SCO Member States, the leader of the nation thanked him for the hospitality and warm welcome, cordiality and excellent organization of this important event under the chairmanship of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the priority areas of Turkmen-Tajik cooperation, which is successfully developing both in a bilateral and regional format. In this context, the leader of the nation noted the participation of his Tajik counterpart in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, held on the Caspian coast in Avaza, where effective negotiations were held.

Continuing the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated the head of Tajikistan and the entire fraternal people on the 30th anniversary of the country's independence, wishing well-being and further prosperity.

In turn, the President of Tajikistan congratulated the leader of the friendly country and all Turkmen citizens on the upcoming anniversary of state independence, wishing new successes on the path of ongoing reforms and transformations.

One of the striking examples of a fruitful interstate dialogue in a multilateral format is the interaction of the two countries within the framework of authoritative international structures, primarily the UN. In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction that the proposal of the Turkmen side on “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Economic Cooperation Organization” was unanimously adopted by the consensus of the Community of Nations and enshrined in the UN General Assembly Resolution.

President Emomali Rahmon stressed that Tajikistan fully supports the constructive foreign policy and constructive initiatives of neutral Turkmenistan that meet the goals of ensuring peace, security and prosperity on a regional and global scale.

In this regard, the special significance of the upcoming 15th Summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan, which will be held on November 28 in Ashgabat, was noted.

Taking this opportunity, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited President Emomali Rahmon to visit our country to participate in this important event, expressing confidence that this will serve as a significant contribution to strengthening regional and international cooperation for further progress and prosperity of the region.

Expressing deep gratitude for the invitation to visit friendly Turkmenistan, the Tajik leader noted the active role of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in promoting comprehensive interstate cooperation within the ECO as an extremely important factor for creating an atmosphere of mutual understanding and support at the bilateral level and in the region as a whole.

At the end of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov once again reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to the traditional ties of friendship and good neighborliness, wishing President Emomali Rahmon good health, prosperity and successful holding of the anniversary summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
