The customs authorities of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan intensify cooperation by organizing the electronic exchange of preliminary information

The relevant Agreement was signed on October 25, 2021 by the heads of the customs services of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan during the Turkmen-Kazakh negotiations held within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Turkmenistan.

The Agreement defines the basic approaches to the phased implementation of the exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles moved between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Detailed conditions for information exchange will be prescribed in a separate document.

Preliminary exchange of information aims to accelerate of customs operations, to reduce the number of required documents for customs procedures, as well as to minimize the use of forms and methods of customs control of goods based on the analysis of information about goods using a risk management system.

It is expected that the implementation of the Agreement will facilitate trade, create favorable conditions for participants in foreign economic activity by speeding up customs operations, as well as increasing the efficiency of customs control in relation to goods and vehicles moved between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
