Turkmenistan is carrying out programme work to develop country's transport and logistics system and transit-transport corridors, increase cargo turnover across the customs border, and create favorable conditions for the prompt transportation of transit cargo and the uninterrupted movement of vehicles.

Reconstruction of customs posts at checkpoints on the State Border, the strengthening of their material and technical base, as well as the widespread introduction of information systems and information technologies in customs processing have made it possible to increase the transport throughput capacity of customs posts.

As a result of the work carried out, the transit cargo turnover in January-April 2025 increased by approximately 20%. More than 2 million tons of transit cargo has been transported across the state border, volume of road freight transportation increased by almost 25%, while rail freight transportation increased by 6%.
