
From 3 to 5 September 2025, events dedicated to the completion of the 10th phase of the European Union’s Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA-10) were held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. The delegation of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, headed by the Director of the Training Centre, took part in the forum.
Implemented from April 2021 to September 2025, BOMCA-10 was aimed at enhancing security and stability in Central Asia. Its key areas of focus included integrated border management, facilitation of legitimate trade, promotion of cross-border cooperation, and improvement of living conditions in border areas.
An important event within the programme was the inauguration of the Situation Centre of the Border Guard Service of the Kyrgyz Republic on 4 September 2025, established with the support of BOMCA-10.
The Closing Conference, held on 5 September at the Sheraton Bishkek Hotel, summed up the results of the programme’s implementation in Central Asia, showcased the achievements of beneficiary countries, and outlined the prospects of the upcoming 11th phase of BOMCA. During the discussions, participants highlighted practical examples of implementing recommendations as well as success stories from participating countries. The representatives of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of the programme in strengthening national and regional border management mechanisms, enhancing professional training of personnel, and fostering interstate cooperation.
