
From 2 to 3 September 2025, in Baet village, Issyk-Kul region, Kyrgyz Republic, the Second International Scientific and Practical Conference “Artificial Intelligence in Customs” took place. The event was organized by the State Customs Service of the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with international development partners, including the GIZ.
The conference brought together customs authorities, policymakers, researchers, and industry representatives to discuss modern opportunities for applying artificial intelligence (AI) in the customs sector. The main focus was on enhancing the safety and transparency of cross-border trade, accelerating customs procedures, effectively identifying high-risk consignments, and combating illicit trade.
Two specialists from the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan participated in the conference. During the two-day event, participants exchanged practical experience in implementing AI, discussed real cases, studied lessons from successful projects, and developed recommendations for scaling AI technologies in customs operations. The conference highlighted the relevance of digitalization and the introduction of innovative solutions in modern global supply chains, where speed, safety, and data reliability are of paramount importance.
