President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov familiarized himself with the preparations for the First Caspian Economic Forum

On June 19, 2019, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with the chairman of the Mejlis, deputy prime ministers, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, and the hyakim of the Balkan velayat, the State News Agency reports.

The head of state was reported on the preparations for the Caspian Economic Forum, which will be held in Avaza National Tourist Zone in August this year.

As noted, the Forum’s agenda covers a wide range of issues related to the development of cooperation in the Caspian region. Members of governments, heads of ministries and departments, heads of coastal regions and executive bodies of government, representatives of the banking sector, companies and companies whose activities are related to the Caspian Sea, as well as employees of international economic, financial, transport, environmental and other organizations, are invited to participate in it. research centers.

Among the planned events are the Caspian Innovative Technologies Exhibition and the International Conference, which will discuss such topical issues as the role of the economy of the Caspian region on a global scale, factors of growth of investment attractiveness in the oil and gas, electricity, transport, trade, agro-industrial, tourism and other industries.

As is known, the date of the first Caspian Economic Forum was not chosen by chance. On this day, August 12, 2006, the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea entered into force. Since then, this date is celebrated by the countries of the region as the International Day of the Caspian Sea.

Summing up the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that the comprehensive strengthening of traditionally friendly relations with the countries of the Caspian region is one of the priority vectors of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality, good neighborliness, and fruitful cooperation.
