On 4 February 2026, a working meeting was held at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, during which issues related to reducing the time required for customs clearance of goods transported by rail across the customs border of Turkmenistan were discussed.
The meeting was attended by representatives of authorized agencies operating at border crossing points, including the customs, border, veterinary and quarantine services, as well as specialists from the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, it was noted that amid the increasing volume of rail freight transportation, particular importance is attached to improving the quality of customs clearance at border crossings, enhancing inter-agency document circulation, and making broader use of digital systems in order to optimize time consumption.
It was also noted that in January 2026, the volume of goods transported by rail through border crossing points increased by 20 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
