The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is currently at the final stage of the implementation of the international eTIR system. This issue was discussed during online coordinating working meeting held on May 20, 2026. The meeting was attended by representatives of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the Association of International Automobile Carriers of Turkmenistan (THADA), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
Participants discussed technical coordination, international best practices, and practical steps toward launching the system. It was noted that the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is actively upgrading its eTIR national application (eTIR NA). To date, the necessary organizational and technical framework for integration has already been established. Furthermore, preparations are underway to conduct pilot operations in cooperation with the customs authorities of Central Asian countries.
Experts emphasized that the international eTIR system opens up broad opportunities for accelerating information exchange. Its implementation will significantly reduce paper-based documentation, minimize transit times, and boost the overall efficiency of operations at border checkpoints.
