The signing took place on July 14, 2022 in Tashkent following the results of the Uzbek-Turkmen talks at the highest level, held as part of the state visit of the esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Uzbekistan.
The document prescribes compliance with the legislation of the States of the Parties in terms of providing reliable information during customs clearance, collecting customs duties, taxes, fees and other payments, exercising customs control when moving goods across the customs border of the States of the Parties. The purpose of the Protocol is to achieve effective interaction in customs activities and increase the level of foreign trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the Technical Conditions for the Information Exchange of Preliminary Information on Goods and Vehicles were also signed. The agreements reached imply a transition to information exchange exclusively using the software of the customs authorities.
