Yesterday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Board Chairman of the Gazprom PJSC Alexey Miller.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the time spared and the opportunity to discuss topical issues of cooperation, the guest conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the head of state from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, confirming the interest of the largest energy company of the Russian Federation in cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Thanking for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction the constructive, traditionally friendly and dynamic nature of Turkmen-Russian relations, as evidenced by regular contacts at the highest level. Having conveyed greetings and best wishes to the President of Russia, the head of Turkmenistan highlighted the importance of the bilateral agreements reached, destined to give a new effective impetus to the interstate dialogue.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said, our country, which has an impressive hydrocarbon potential, is aimed at the progressive development of mutually beneficial relations with foreign partners in such a strategic direction as the fuel and energy complex. The key vectors of Turkmenistan’s policy in this area are the radical modernization of the national fuel and energy complex, the active introduction of advanced technologies and innovative developments, and increasing the efficiency of the extractive and processing sectors. All this provides ample opportunities for strengthening and diversifying productive business contacts.
During the meeting, the head of Turkmenistan and the Board Chairman of the Gazprom PJSC exchanged views on the prospects for further partnership, taking into account the existing many years of positive experience and solid potential. In this context, the parties discussed issues related to the purchase of Turkmen gas by the Russian holding under the current contract and the expansion of cooperation in this area on a long-term basis.
Large-scale transformative programs and major infrastructure projects in the oil and gas industry that are being implemented in our country create favorable prerequisites for successful cooperation. Here, along with the extraction of energy resources, great importance is attached to increasing the capacity of the gas and petrochemical industry with a focus on producing high-quality competitive products that are in high demand on the world market. At the same time, the development of “green” energy, the practical use of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources is identified as an urgent aspect.
As noted, Turkmenistan is always open to the proposals of its long-standing business partners and is ready to support new promising formats of interaction. It was also underlined that the Russian holding company will continue to steadily follow its commitments.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the head of the Russian energy company confirmed the desire of Turkmenistan and Gazprom PJSC to continue mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at concrete results, which will be an effective contribution to the further development of interstate strategic relations.
