From November 8 to 10, 2022, Trainers from Training Center under the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan completed a short-term internship in the city of Riga, Latvia. The Border Management Assistance Program in Central Asia (BOMCA 10), the purpose of which is to exchange experience, organized the internship.

The group have visited the Institute of International Economic Relations and Customs of the Riga Technical University and the National Customs Administration of the State Revenue Service of Latvia. Latvian colleges where they got acquainted with the training methods of the program "Customs and Tax Administration" and the professional development system for employees of the State Revenue Service of Latvia, and also studied the experience of developing certain areas of customs.

During a visit to the Institute of International Economic Relations and Customs of the Riga Technical University, the Director of the Training Center at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan delivered a lecture on customs administration in Turkmenistan for students of the Riga Technical University.

At the end of the event, experts from Latvia and the participants developed recommendations for improving the training and advanced training of employees of the customs service of Turkmenistan and agreed to strengthen cooperation with the faculty of the Riga Technical University in conducting research in certain areas of customs, corresponding to the specialization of the trainee participants by strengthening cooperation with academic staff.
