A seminar on the prevention of illegal trade in ozone-depleting substances was held at the Training Center under the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan for participants in the initial training course.

The seminar was organized by the Ozone Center under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection within the framework of a joint Project with the United Nations Executive Committee for Industrial Development (UNIDO).

During the seminar, the participants were told about the aspects of fulfilling Turkmenistan's obligations under the Montreal Protocol, the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, legislative acts and regulations for the protection of the ozone layer in the country, the role of the customs service in controlling ozone-depleting substances.

At the end, the customs officers were awarded the relevant certificates.

The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, in accordance with the approved list of substances prohibited and restricted for use in the country that deplete the ozone layer of the atmosphere, maintains strict control over the movement of such substances across the customs border of Turkmenistan.
