On May 2, 2023, a meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan D. Bayryev and the Executive Secretary of the International Center for Transport Diplomacy at the UN (ICTD) Igor Runov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues regarding measures to facilitate transit and cross-border procedures, the implementation of various initiatives and projects for the development of international transport corridors.
An assessment was given to the work on automation and digitalization of customs processes, including transit procedures in Turkmenistan. It was noted that the accession to such projects as the Digitalization of the international road transport procedure in the transport corridors of Central Asia to strengthen regional cooperation and trade, funded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as the Improved Transit System of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation and the General Exchange of Information.
Mr. I. Runov, in turn, briefed on the general situation of the functioning of global supply chains in the global and regional context and the recommended additional measures to facilitate transit. He also presented the Global Transit Document (GTrD) along the TRACECA route, which is used within the framework of the Global Customs Transit Digital Network (CTTN) and familiarized with all the functionality of this system.
CSTT is a new generation guarantee system in the field of multimodal freight transport, the elements of which are blockchain, customs risk management, controlled access to the network.
Following the meeting, the parties noted the need to study all aspects of the proposed system.
