On May 4, 2023, within the framework of the transport forum held in Ashgabat, the Addendum to the TIR Guarantee Agreement dated February 02, 2001 was signed regarding the use of the TIR procedure through electronic data exchange between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen Association of International Road Carriers.
The document regulates the movement of goods under the TIR procedure, using electronic data interchange. The electronic data transmitted by the customs authorities regarding the start, end and end of a TIR operation are considered legal evidence that such a TIR operation has been started, terminated and completed.
TIR transports subject to the Subsidiary Agreement may be accompanied by a printed document, which is the functional equivalent of a TIR Carnet.
