On May 30, 2023, within the framework of the working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Iran, the heads of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Administration of Iran signed the Action Plan for 2023-2024.
At present, Iran is one of the largest trade and economic partners for Turkmenistan. Transit operations are actively developing through the territories of the two states.
In the activation and qualitative development of trade and economic relations, a special role is assigned to the customs services. The common task facing the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Administration of Iran is to become an effective tool for the development of bilateral and international trade.
The signed Plan is intended to promote the strengthening of interrelations, the effective use of the potential of the infrastructure formed in recent years and the establishment of effective management at customs checkpoints. The document establishes the algorithm of actions of the parties to develop cooperation in such areas as information exchange, development of transit potential, prevention of customs offenses and exchange of experience.
