On November 19, 2023, following the meeting held between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping as part of the working visit of Hero-Arkadag to the People's Republic of China, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to expand the capabilities of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) system between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.

This document is intended to promote the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of creation and development of the AEO system through the mutual exchange of experience. As part of the Memorandum, the parties intend to conduct training events, trainings, meetings in order to improve the qualifications of relevant employees in the field of AEO, as well as organize mutual visits to exchange experience in implementing the AEO system.

It is expected that the implementation of the Memorandum will facilitate the practical implementation of the amendments made to the Customs Code of Turkmenistan on September 30, 2023 regarding the system of Authorized Economic Operators, and will also contribute to the development of trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and China.
