On November 23, 2023, a trilateral meeting of representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the State Customs Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Ministry of Trade of the Turkish Republic was held via video link.

This meeting was organized at the initiative of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan in order to implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan, the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the creation of a Joint Advisory Group on Customs Cooperation.

During the meeting, the Parties agreed to exchange information about the members of the Joint Consultative Group in the near future, determined the place and time of the first meeting of the Joint Group, and also discussed the issue of organizing mutual exchange of information about goods and vehicles moved across the customs borders of the Parties.

The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on December 14, 2022 in the city of Turkmenbashi between the Government of Turkmenistan, the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the creation of a Joint Advisory Group on Customs Cooperation is to simplify customs procedures for the accelerated movement of goods between the states of the Parties, mutual exchange of information, creation of conditions, promoting the development of mutual trade, as well as strengthening cooperation.
