By the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan dated December 29, 2023, the reconstruction of the Garabogaz customs post on the border of Turkmenistan with Kazakhstan will begin in January 2024.

The project is aimed at expanding the territory of the checkpoint, re-equipping it and increasing its capacity. As part of the project, it is planned to reconstruct the administrative building, purchase and equip a new inspection and inspection unit - an X-ray machine for cars. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.

As customs statistics show, there is a positive growth trend in foreign trade and transit flows through the Garabogaz checkpoint.

It is expected that the modernization of the customs post will help reduce the time of customs clearance procedures, which in turn will stimulate an increase in goods passing through the post, and new high-precision X-ray equipment will make it possible to conduct an in-depth analysis of the quantity and quality of goods imported into our country.
