Thanks to the convenient geographical location of Turkmenistan and its developing transit potential, the volume of cargo transportation through the territory of Turkmenistan has been growing at a rapid pace in recent years. In 2023, the transit of goods through the territory of Turkmenistan increased by 17% compared to 2022.

The growth of transit cargo flows in February of this year also continued. In the first two months of 2024, this figure increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2023.

To increase the attractiveness of transit corridors passing through the territory of our country and to attract additional transit cargo flows, the infrastructure at border customs posts is constantly being improved. Full automation of customs procedures and the use of modern equipment during customs inspection ensure uninterrupted transportation of vehicles through the customs posts of Turkmenistan. Therefore, in recent years there has been an increased interest of carriers in transit routes through the territory of Turkmenistan. Thus, since the beginning of 2020, the volume of transit cargo has increased by 206% or 3 times. At the same time, road transport increased by 585%, and the volume of railway cargo transportation increased by 104%.
