On March 13, 2024, representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan met with the Deputy Head of the Component of the Trade Facilitation in Central Asia program of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), Ms. Asel Uzagalieva. The meeting took place as part of Ms. Uzagaliyeva's working visit to Turkmenistan to participate in the annual GIZ planning event. The meeting was also attended by GIZ representative in Turkmenistan Ahmetyar Kulov.

During the meeting, Ms. Uzagalieva spoke about the “Trade Facilitation in Central Asia” project, which was implemented in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and was completed in December last year. The customer of the project with a total budget of 7 million euros was the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. In the context of the initiative, these countries were supported in standardizing, simplifying and digitalizing procedures as part of the implementation of the World Trade Organization agreement on trade facilitation.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss possible cooperation within the framework of the GIZ Regional Project “Trade Facilitation in Central Asia”.
