On June 25, 2024, in the Turkmenbashi seaport, customs officers held a meeting with representatives of the agencies “Turkmendenizderyayollary”, “Turkmendemiryollary” and “Turkmenavtouglary”, “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan” of the Balkan Velayat, the Turkmen International Association of Road Carriers, as well as with customs brokers and representatives of various logistics companies and carriers in the region.
The meeting participants were informed about the latest developments in the customs legislation of Turkmenistan. These innovations, in particular, relate to the Procedure for acquiring the status of Authorized Economic Operators and the Rules for Preliminary Information.
The procedure for including and excluding legal entities from the list of authorized economic operators, as well as the rules for issuing registration certificates, suspending and renewing their validity, was approved in March of this year. The meeting participants were explained the conditions for assigning and depriving the status of an authorized economic operator, as well as the requirements for its work.
Those present were also familiarized with the newly introduced rules, which are related to preliminary information about goods imported into the territory of Turkmenistan before their actual arrival. The rules came into force on June 1, 2024, according to which carriers can submit information about goods before their import into the territory of Turkmenistan. Preliminary information can be submitted in Turkmen, Russian and/or English through the customs information system ASYCUDA World and the TIR-EPD system.
