A delegation of the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran paid a working visit to Ashgabat on January 21-22, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to implement the Joint Action Plan of the Customs Services of Turkmenistan and Iran for 2025-2026, which was signed on August 28, 2024.

The visit began with a working meeting of the parties, during which the results of cooperation between the customs authorities of the two countries for 2024 were discussed. Issues of interaction at the Hovdan-Bajgiran, Artyk-Lotfabad and Sarahs-Sarahs checkpoints were touched upon. In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of increasing cargo flows across customs borders, while attention was paid to organizing effective customs control and preventing possible violations regarding goods, both export and transit. A decision was made to develop cooperation in the field of Authorized Economic Operators, exchange information on identified violations for the purpose of their further prevention, and conduct joint events to familiarize participants in foreign economic activity of both sides with customs regulations.

After the meeting, the guests visited the museum room, where they learned about the history of the formation of customs in Turkmenistan and its activities, then the delegation visited the Control and Analytical Center of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, which was launched on the eve of their visit.

The working visit of the Iranian colleagues ended with a visit to the Training Center at the State Customs Service and the International Customs Terminal.
