The modern gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 432 MW, put into operation on September 3 in 2021 in the Chardzhev etrap of the Lebap velayat, not only provides the domestic consumers with electricity without interruption, but also exports it.

Built in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the Japanese companies "Sumitomo Corporation" and "Mitsubishi Power Ltd", as well as the Turkish company "Ronesans Holding", the power plant is one of the largest and environmentally friendly in the country and in the region. This is evidenced by the international certificates presented to the plant managers at the opening ceremony.

Over the few months that have passed since the date of commissioning, the plant has ensured uninterrupted operation of equipment, due to which electricity production is constantly increasing. Every month, Lebap SES produces 104 million kilowatt hours of electricity, which is sent for domestic consumption and for export. The importing countries are Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Over the past month, the volume of exported electricity produced in the Lebap velayat amounted to 99 million kilowatt hours. And recently, the Üçajy-Zerger gas pipeline, 125 kilometers long, was connected to the power plant. The construction of this gas pipeline was carried out by the 5th specialized construction and installation department of the Türkmengündogarnebitgurluşyk trust, which is actively involved in the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project.
