From April 11 to 12, 2024 delegation of General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China visited the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan to exchange experience in the field of the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO).

The visit took place within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China on Capacity Building Cooperation of Authorized Economic Operators program signed in Beijing on October 19, 2023.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation was received by the manager staff of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, where the parties discussed issues related to the implementation of the above Memorandum. It was noted that currently the customs service of Turkmenistan is actively exploring all aspects of the AEO institution for its effective implementation. In this regard, great importance is attached to the study of the Chinese experience.

As part of this visit, a seminar was organized in the Head office of State Customs with the participation of customs officers and members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. During this seminar Chinese AEO specialists shared their experience in implementing this program in China, told the audience about the history of the development of AEO mechanism, how it works and what are the future prospects. At the end of the seminar, an exchange of views on the presented materials took place.

The foreign delegation, during its visit to the State Customs Service, was also familiarized with the activities of customs authorities in Turkmenistan. Acquaintance with customs began in the museum room, where Chinese colleagues learned the history of the creation and development of Turkmen customs, got acquainted with photographs and exhibits reflecting the stages of formation and life of the Service. Then, in the situation center of the building, guests were presented with a video that describes the customs service, the measures taken to improve it and its achievements over the last period.

The visit of the Chinese customs officers ended with a visit to the customs house of the city of Arkadag, where they had the opportunity to get acquainted with the infrastructure of the administrative building and the conditions created there thanks to attention of esteemed President and Hero-Arkadag, as well as meet with customs personnel.
