On April 26-28, 2022, a regional seminar was held on the implementation of e-learning methodology in training centers and educational institutions of the border and customs agencies of Central Asia, as well as veterinary and phytosanitary services, organized by the Border Management Program in Central Asia (BOMCA). Representatives of the State Customs, Migration and Border Services, as well as the State Veterinary Service and the State Quarantine Service of Turkmenistan took part in the three-day seminar, which was held in a hybrid format in the Archabil Hotel in Ashgabat.
During the seminar, experts from the Latvian State Border Guard College, the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences and the European Border and Coast Guard Service (Frontex) shared their experience in implementing e-learning in the above educational institutions in Latvia, Estonia, as well as in the European Union Agency for the Security of External Borders (“ Frontex”), introduced the participants to the European approach to e-learning, shared the results of the analyzes and forecasted trends. Participants were also introduced to practical e-learning methods and tools in the form of exercises and tests.
It is appropriate to note here that the customs authorities of Turkmenistan have information and telecommunication facilities that allow them to conduct both meetings and training sessions in real time. Thus, in the Central Office of the State Customs Service, regular training sessions, meetings and conferences are held with the participation of regional customs officers using video-electronic communication.
