In accordance with WCO standards, as well as to implement the existing transport and logistics potential of Turkmenistan, bringing these opportunities to a qualitatively new level, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is increasingly improving its activities to facilitate procedures for the fluent movement of goods.

In this regard, one of the main achievements is the development of automated control systems and technologies. As a result of the successful implementation of the Strategy for the Development of the Customs Authorities of Turkmenistan for 2017-2021, the ASYCUDA WORLD integrated customs system was introduced to serve in the customs authorities of Turkmenistan in cooperation with UNCTAD and with the active assistance of UNDP. As part of the creation of a national automated information system, close cooperation has developed with the UN specialized agencies - UNCTAD and UNDP. So, from the beginning of 2021, the project Single Window for Export-Import Operations in Turkmenistan was also launched jointly with the above-mentioned UN units. The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is designated as the authorized body for coordinating the work of this system. The project is designed for 2021-2023. As the result of these projects, customs control is now carried out through the use of modern forms, methods and technical means, advanced information and communication technologies.

Regarding the automation of customs procedures and information exchange of data, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is developing cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the International Road Transport Union (IRU), in the field of introducing the TIR-EPD advance cargo declaration system, as well as the e-TIR system . It is expected that preliminary declaration using TIR-EPD system will be established by customs authorities of Turkmenistan on September 1, 2022.
