From November 29 to December 1, 2022, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan hosted a group of experts from Latvia to conduct a seminar on improving customs processes and electronic services related to the electronic filing and processing of customs documents, as well as the development of a Single Window. The seminar was organized within the framework of the BOMCA Program under the auspices of the European Union.
On the first day of the event was attended by customs officers as well as members of the Interdepartmental Working Group to coordinate the work of the "Single Window for Export-Import Operations" system.
During the seminar, the participants discussed the current practice of simplifying customs procedures, issuing electronic permits and other documents by state bodies for foreign economic activity. Special attention was paid to legislative acts and agreements regulating information exchange and cooperation between state bodies and the private sector in the region. The participants exchanged their of views on the organization of work on the principle of a "Single window".
Based on the results of the seminar, the experts made recommendations for further improvement of the customs procedures automation system in Turkmenistan. It is worth noting that the Latvian experts positively assessed the ongoing work in the field of digitalization of customs procedures in Turkmenistan.
