During the meeting, the results of the Interregional Operation to Combat Illicit Trafficking in Tobacco Products were summed up, an overview of current activities within the network, as well as a discussion of priorities and needs in the field of further development of practical cooperation between the countries participating in the UNODC Global Program and the World Customs Organization for the control of container transportation.

Having made a presentation, customs officers from Turkmenistan noted that with the adoption of the Law of Turkmenistan “On protecting the health of citizens from the effects of tobacco smoke and the consequences of tobacco product consumption” and the implementation of the tobacco control program, Turkmenistan occupies a leading position in the WHO European Region in combating tobacco.
