On March 7, 2024, a meeting was held with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the building of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan. The Japanese delegation was led by Mr. Kenji OGASAHARA, Head  of the East and Central Asia and Caucasus Department of JICA.

The parties discussed a number of issues regarding customs procedures carried out in the Turkmenbashi seaport. The Japanese delegation made a proposal to cooperate in the field of customs to support the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

Another topic for discussion was the participation of representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan in training programs in the functioning of JICA, which provide partner countries with the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge based on Japanese experience. In particular, they talked about participation in the MTP (Master Trainer Program) training, which is conducted in cooperation with JICA and the World Customs Organization.
