From 26 to 29 March 2024 Lebap velayat customs hosted joint subregional training for Port Control Units’ (PCU) members of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan under the UNODC-World Customs Organization (WCO) Global Container Control Programme (CCP).
The training was organized as part of the CCP Action Plan for the first half of 2024 in order to expand the theoretical knowledge of CCP`s members in the field of profiling and targeted selection of high-risk cargo and identifying illegal supplies, risk analysis, identifying falsification of seals, as well as methods for checking documents and cargo.
During the sessions, participants were familiarized with the provisions of the 1972 Customs Convention relating to containers. Intellectual property rights from the point of view of the customs authority, methods of concealment in containers, the WCO ContainerCOMM Platform for secure information exchange and other topics were included in the program of the workshop.
During the practical part of the training, the participants practiced their acquired knowledge on targeted selection and control of documentation, profiling based on targeted selection, physical inspection of cargo selected for inspection, as well as the exchange of preliminary data on individual cargo with the partner CCP.
