The elections of deputies and members of the Halk Maslakhaty instead of retired took place in Turkmenistan.

According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, on March 31, 2019, Turkmenistan held elections of deputies of the Mejlis, members of the Halk Maslakhaty and Gengesh instead of retired ones in separate electoral districts.

This important socio-political event clearly demonstrated the active participation of Turkmen citizens in the affairs of the state in the name of a happy future for the country and people. The right to represent their voters in the national parliament and local self-government bodies was claimed by the most deserving citizens enjoying great respect and trust of compatriots. The candidates include village workers, representatives of state institutions, leading specialists in various fields, workers in the fields of economics, education, science, culture, health care, activists of political parties, and public organizations.

A characteristic feature of the current elections was the fact that online broadcasting was conducted from some polling stations. Anyone who wanted to, through convenient navigation, could observe the voting process on the website of the Central Election Commission.

According to the Central Election Commission for the conduct of elections and referenda in Turkmenistan, by the time the polling stations close by 19 o'clock, 91.12 percent took part in the elections of deputies of the Mejlis; members of the Halk Maslakhaty of the velayat and the city of Ashgabat - 90.86, etrap  Halk Maslakhaty - 90.71 and the Gengesh - 90.90 percent of the electorate.
