From 7 to 11 October 2024, Turkmen missions consisting of representatives of the State Customs Service, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Foreign Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, and the Central Bank of Turkmenistan took part in the training on negotiations on market access for goods held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The week-long training course was organized by the World Trade Organization (WTO) for specialists involved in the WTO process from 9 acceding countries, namely Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bhutan, Belarus, Iraq, Libya, Somalia and Uzbekistan.
The purpose of the training is to prepare specialists in the negotiation process for WTO countries. This process includes a sequence of bilateral and multilateral influences on tariffs, agriculture and services. The events were held in the format of lectures, interactive exercises, research and roundtable discussions. During interactive sessions, participants worked out an approach from the point of view of coordinating countries' positions with partners taking into account standard WTO conditions, discussed issues of developing clear wording on agreements on tariffs and services.
In addition, a training platform for exchanging opinions with the participation of participants on goods from the USA, Japan, Brazil, China, which have completed the accession process.
