From November 18 to 20, 2024, the Border Management Program in Central Asia (BOMCA 10), in cooperation with the USAID project, organized a workshop for customs officers on improving the electronic flow of data related to customs clearance of goods and the digitalization of customs processes. The event was held in the building of the Central Office of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and was attended by employees of Customs Procedures Automation Department.
The program of the seminar was aimed at assisting in assessing the current situation with the digitalization and automation of customs processes, existing customs information systems, electronic services provided by customs, as well as the level of development and integration of the Single Window.
New approaches to the automation of customs processes were discussed, including the use of artificial intelligence in customs IT systems. Particular attention was paid to the use of electronic customs declarations, as well as the degree of use of electronic services in Turkmenistan.
As a result of the seminar, experts from the Customs Administration of the State Revenue Service of Latvia, Ms. Olga Vikaine and Ms. Marianna Asojeva, provided recommendations for the further development and improvement of customs declaration systems, as well as the optimization of related customs processes.
