On February 4, 2025, in a video conference between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The agenda included increasing the capacity of the Farap Avtoyollary-Alat checkpoints and discussing the parties' proposals.
As noted, after the recent reconstruction of the Farap Avtoyollary checkpoint, there has been an increase in the number of vehicles moving between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Nevertheless, the parties discussed promising joint tasks for further increasing the capacity of the posts.
It was decided to appoint contact persons on both sides to promptly resolve issues arising in the region of the Farap Avtoyollary-Alat checkpoints, hold joint mutual meetings of representatives of the two customs services, and conduct familiarization measures for Uzbek foreign trade participants on the Preliminary Declaration mechanism launched in Turkmenistan on June 1, 2024.
