Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan continues to develop and modernize international transit corridors of strategic importance. The State Customs Service plays a key role in this process by introducing digital technologies, streamlining procedures, and harmonizing customs control with global standards.

According to a rapid assessment conducted by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in October–November 2024, the average border crossing time for transit goods through Turkmenistan is just 50 minutes, the fastest among Central Asian countries. For comparison: Kazakhstan — 2h 26m, Tajikistan — 1h 50m, Kyrgyzstan — 1h 28m, Uzbekistan — 1h 25m.

This result became possible due to the coordinated work of customs and other regulatory authorities through the use of information systems, the introduction of green corridors, and the simplification of customs procedures.

These achievements underscore Turkmenistan’s growing reputation as a reliable regional transit hub between Asia and Europe, while the State Customs Service continues to enhance its infrastructure and international cooperation efforts.
