From January 6 to 8, 2025, a delegation of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan made a working visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) within the framework of the bilateral Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters, signed on November 21, 2022 in Abu Dhabi.
First, the delegation met with officials of the UAE Federal Customs Authority. Mr. Soud Alagrubi, Director of the Department of International Customs Relations, introduced the activities of the Federal Customs Authority and the service's experience in implementing the Authorized Economic Operators program.
The meeting discussed the issue of cooperation on mutual recognition of authorized economic operators. In this regard, the Arab side proposed a draft Action Plan for the further development of cooperation in this area.
A working meeting was also held at Dubai Customs, which organized visits for our delegation to the Jebel Ali port and the Dubai Customs Academy. Representatives of the Jebel Ali seaport introduced the delegation members to an innovative radioactive scanning system for vehicles, which is used to inspect, check cargo vehicles and containers. Due to its high penetrating power, the contents are thoroughly checked without causing damage to goods and food products, while identifying prohibited items. The system is capable of scanning 150 trucks per hour, moving at a speed of 8-15 km.
During a visit to the Dubai Customs Academy, innovative customs teaching methods were explored, in particular the virtual reality teaching method.
