
On July 28–29, 2025, a regional training seminar titled “Security and Risk Management in Seaports” was held at the International Seaport of Turkmenbashy. The event was jointly organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan. The seminar brought together customs officers of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives from Azerbaijan, Albania, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, UNODC, and other international partners.
The seminar focused on strengthening the legal framework for container transport and enhancing international cooperation in this field. Participants highly appreciated the conditions created within the customs authorities of Turkmenistan to ensure effective control, as well as the potential of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashy to promote international trade.As part of the seminar, participants also familiarized themselves with the infrastructure and modern facilities of the Turkmenbashy port.
It is worth noting that the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is actively implementing the objectives of the Container Control Programme, an international initiative carried out jointly with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and UNODC. The consistent development of international cooperation in the customs field contributes significantly to strengthening the economic capacity of the country.
