On May 24, 2021, an online meeting was held between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the project of the Technical Provisions, worked out due to the Memorandum of Understanding between the parties concerning the electronic exchange of customs data.
During the meeting, the parties noted that within the framework of the Memorandum, there is a great opportunity for further strengthening effective customs cooperation through a preliminary exchange of customs datа between two countries.
At the current stage of the transition to the digital economy in Turkmenistan, the establishment of preliminary electronic exchange of information is important for further improving customs and conducting reliable information-based customs control. And also, in a market economy, one of the important economic indicators is a rapid implementation of customs operations, reducing the time for customs clearance of goods and vehicles passing through the customs border.
