On August 26, 2022, at the initiative of the Uzbek side, a working meeting between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held via videoconferencing.
The main topic of it was the discussion of the issue of increasing the throughput capacity of the Farab-Alat checkpoints on the Turkmen-Uzbek border. The parties exchanged information on the work of checkpoints and on the prospects for their development. An agreement was reached on holding periodic working meetings in order to promptly resolve issues that arise at the border.
Discussing the status of work on the implementation of the Protocol on the exchange of preliminary information, the parties agreed to start the process of data exchange from January 2023.
The Parties also touched the issue on the introduction of digital TIR Carnets and the facilitation of transit procedures.
At the end of the meeting, the Parties expressed a unanimous opinion on the need for further development of bilateral relations.
