On November 28, 2023, in the building of the Central Office of the Customs Service, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic Sh. Bagirov, who arrived in Ashgabat as part of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation from the Azerbaijani side.

During the dialogue, the heads of the two customs services assessed the current cooperation and discussed priority areas for further bilateral cooperation.

The parties noted with satisfaction the developing nature of interaction between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the State Customs Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic. Throughout 2023, both management staff and representatives of the Civil Service took part in multilateral meetings, conferences and forums organized by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Joint trainings were also conducted with the participation of customs officers of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan within the framework of the Global Container Control Program by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Customs Organization (WCO). Cooperation is also developing in the trilateral format of Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Türkiye. Work is underway to create a joint advisory committee.

As part of his visit, the Azerbaijani guest got acquainted with the work of the customs service, visited the museum room of the State Customs Service and made an entry in the book of honored guests.
