Turkmen troops participate in world war games for the first time

According to on October 18, 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the grand opening of the VII summer World Military Games "Wuhan-2019" took place, in which representatives of the sports team of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan participate for the first time as members of the International Military Sports Council (IMSC).

The opening ceremony took place in the Wuhan Sports Center and lasted more than two hours, during which various performances prepared using the latest technologies and demonstrating the cultural diversity of the participating countries were presented to a large audience.

The World Summer War Games is the second largest sporting event in the world after the Olympics. Within the framework of Wuhan-2019, medals will be played in 31 sports. The Games will be attended by over 10 thousand military athletes, trainers and technical personnel from more than 100 countries. A total of 329 "gold" medals will be played at the Games.

IMSC annually holds more than twenty international tournaments and world championships under the general slogan “Friendship through sport”. Thousands of military athletes from 140 countries of the world take part in them. The Summer and Winter World War Games organized by the WSWS, by analogy with the Olympic Games, are held once every four years.

On October 16, 2017, at the headquarters of the International Council of Military Sports, a meeting of the delegation of Turkmenistan with the Secretary General of the IMSC, Colonel Dora Mambi Coit, was presented, who was presented with documents for our country to become a member of the Council. On the occasion of the official entry and signing of the corresponding document at the 73rd General Assembly of the IMSC, which was held on April 16--23, 2018 in the city of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the State flag was raised and the National Anthem of Turkmenistan was performed.

At the Wuhan 2019 Games, competitions will be held at 35 sports venues. The sports delegation of our country included ten people. Four of them are military athletes. G.Begaliyev (90 kg) and M.Gurbanov (73 kg) will compete for the medals of the Games in judo competitions, and S.Believ (125 kg) and G.Hemraev (65 kg) in wrestling competitions. All of them are the best athletes of the sports club “Merkezi goşun” of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan and previously showed excellent results in other international competitions.
