According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan on June 5, 2019, the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, Army General Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the State Security Council. The agenda included the results of the work of the military and law enforcement agencies over five months of the current year, as well as priorities.

The chairmen of the military and law enforcement agencies reported on the work done during the reporting period, the course of military reform aimed at strengthening the country's defense, creating appropriate conditions for service and the life of soldiers and officers.

At the meeting, Chairman of the State Customs Service A. Osmanov reported on the sequential steps implemented since the beginning of the year to improve the efficiency of this structure. There was also a report on the implementation of the instructions given by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the country to equip subordinate institutions with modern technical means that allow strict control of cargo passing through the border of our state.

Today, the geostrategic role of Turkmenistan on the Eurasian continent is increasing as an important crossroads of transit and transport corridors, the President noted, stressing that due to the increase in the volume of work, a responsible approach to the execution of the powers entrusted to the Service is necessary. Special importance should be attached to the observance of the order of movement of goods and vehicles across the customs border of our country, the head of state stressed, ordering to keep under constant control the conduct of relevant procedures in accordance with international standards.

Taking into account the intensification of international contacts, the holding of major forums in our country, the Turkmen leader gave a number of instructions on the use of the existing experience in this field. As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, raising the status of Turkmenistan as an international transport and transit corridor requires the introduction of modern methods into the work of the customs service and the use of world best practices.

In this context, it was noted that in the framework of improving the work of the Service, the volume of services rendered under the digital system is increasing, advanced international experience is being studied, particular importance is attached to increasing the effectiveness of cooperation in this area with reputable international organizations.
