Training on combating seal manipulation

20-22 August 2019 – Within the framework of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Customs Organization Container Control Programme, the UNODC Programme Office in Turkmenistan has conducted a three-day Training on combating seal manipulation at the International Customs Terminal of Ashgabat. 

Eighteen officers of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan in the training.

Conducted by Mr. Dirk De Langhe, UNODC Headquarters (Vienna, Austria) and Mr. Svetlan Savov, UNODC Consultant, the training was aimed at strengthening capacity of customs officers on identification and detection of counterfeit seals in container shipments, as well as on using modern methods and customs control techniques. 

Practical exercise on the terminal allowed the participants to improve their skills in identification and analysis of seals and customs documentation.
